may be over thinking it.most people set the kick start gear on top of the ratchet plate to check engagement.

you still could check them on the clutch gear.it's sticking out of the trap door now isn't it?

Yeah you’re right Bruce, I was thinking I wouldn’t be able to see it, but if you turn everything around it’s OK - doing this now. I watched too many tatro videos. It should be fine anyway with everything centered up. Will post some more pics when I’m done, might be a while as I’m away now with work.

Made a locking tool for clutch tonight, copyright Chevelle. Thanks for the tip, it works a treat. Alu, as it’s all I had but it’s 1/4” thick so should be OK.

Thanks.

Assembly tip for anyone looking at this in future - grease the o-ring on clutch gear extension or end of nut where it contacts, got torn up on 1st install.

0.040” clearance is good, I have 0.08/9.

Can’t find the pri. chain adjuster in the parts book - why does HD do this to me?



Just want to check correct bolt lengths and washers and I am guessing this isn’t right?



Can anyone help?
