I,m presuming that your bike is not magneto ignition?
If so, the stalling could well be caused by an electrical short sucking the power down the brake line!
I note you say you relocated the brake line - have you checked for battery terminal contact ?
If its a short I think anything else would have melted!!
I have an old car that stopped and caught fire at the same time because a 30amp cable (to the horns would you believe) shorted out ! Luckily fire was confined to the loom.
Sounds kinda similar.

The bike has no magneto.

I know the battery terminals are really close to the frame, maybe the cable was tangled after I installed the new battery....

I think I will use some sort of rubber on top of the terminals next time.
