KT - 2023 - Chasing Adrenaline
I will use this thread to post a picture as a notice of my latest ride.
My 1994 Sportster (Kool Therapy) takes me on various adventures for these reports.
Most of them occur around the south-central Pennsylvania area.
My Motorcycle Chronicles >>Located HERE<<
will have the detials and pictures in a fuller report for this year.
My website is ad-free and also full of earlier ride reports.
For this year's report, look for: Miscellaneous Places - 2023
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
BULLITT
This movie, starring Steve McQueen, is another of my favorite films.
The famous chase scene thru San Francisco is a true adrenaline rush.
Reportedly, McQueen's 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 Fastback (Highland Green) and the hitman's 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 (Black)
reached speeds over 100mph during that chase. Some of the actual Mustang driving was done by McQueen himself, while much of
the most dangerous parts were done by stunt personnel, Bud Ekins, Carey Loftin and Loren Janes.
Stunt driver Bill Hickman drove the Charger.
My title for this year acknowledges the adrenaline rush of this movie chase
and that which we often enjoy when riding our Sportsters.
We have emerged into 2023!
Hopefully, I'll have many days of riding and reporting
to new places this year and some old ones, too.

You're welcome to comment in this thread about anything in my ride report
whether I post here or at My Motorcycle Chronicles.
I have already made my first ride of the year. As soon as I have
my report prepared, I'll post a picture or two here.
Then check out My Motorcycle Chronicles for the full details.

Because of the snow, ice and rain at the end of 2022, I did not ride on New Year's Day or the next few days. Even though the temps were in the upper 50's & 60's, the roads (or the skies) were still wet and messy, many with snow melt salt or chemicals still lingering.
On Jan 5, I finally got a clear day with temps in the low 60's. Woo Hoo!!!
Almost being a tradition for me by now, my first ride of the year included the Gettysburg National Battlefield (my first destination for many previous years). But I wanted to make another stop at an interesting memorial on the way there.
Here's the picture from the intermediate stop I made. You can visit My Motorcycle Chronicles in order to get the full details. I found it even more interesting than I expected.
Then, I headed for a part of Gettysburg I've not visited before, a site I may not visit again. It's somewhat separated from the other points of interest and said to be the least visited area of the park.
I actually liked the view from here, but I suspect it is rather limited by summer vegetation, and certainly this past year by 9-ft-high corn stalks.
Still, as the pictures show, it was a very nice day, especially for the 1st week of January. The sky was blue and my hands were not. The cloud formations were all different in each direction you might look (although none show in these pictures).
After visiting the battlefield for about an hour, I meandered along a few back roads getting home, spending about 3 hours overall. I shared about 75 miles of riding time with KT, which rumbled along as usual.
I'm looking forward to some more great rides this year. I'm sure my brother will be riding on some of those, when the temperature rises over 70°.
Just a bit of a side note here. A number of the previous yearly threads I've created, to mention each new ride I make, have been marred by the picture hosting site (in this case, mostly imagehousing), not unlike the great Photobucket debacle. They have stopped linking my pictures (probably deleted them) so my earlier XLForum threads are now defaced with non-pictures. But I keep a copy, and record, of every picture I upload. I have fixed a few threads, but I'll be working on placing more pictures (the same ones deleted) on my current hosting site & relinking the individual pics in the earlier threads to the new locations. All of my riding threads are in the XLForum's PA section HERE, so you may visit previous years at your leisure.

Hi IXL
What part of the Park did you visit, & do you know why it's supposed to be the least visited?

Bob - If you go to My Motorcycle Chronicles (link in my signature) I describe where I went - Benner's Hill. There are a number of places on the battlefield that are 'the least visited' because most of them are located away from the central area. The prepackaged tours don't visit these areas - likely because it takes extra time to get there & less information to pass along. That doesn't mean any of them are not interesting - - to someone.

Thanks Brad. Hopefully I'll give you some memories & suggest places for others to visit who are still here or come to visit. PA has a lot of history & cool places to visit. I guess most states do.
Thanks for riding along...

I've been working hard to clear up these past ride report threads. Maybe no one really cares to re-read them after they are current.
But I do try to add things to the threads that are not in My Motorcycle Chronicles. And some of you, of course, have commented in those threads about various subjects. So I wanted them to have the right pictures to make the threads more enjoyable.
The 2019 & 2020 threads still have the pictures hosted on imgur, and they are still active, but I'll continue to work on getting those moved to my current hosting to prevent losses in the future.
In any event, here are the direct links to those previous threads, if you're interested.

Since it's been cold (below 40°) and rainy (and I've been recovering from a cold) I have not gotten to ride KT since the 5th of January. In the meantime, I've been working on My Motorcycle Chronicles and some other video stuff.
I've now added another small feature to the Chronicles. In the top menu on the main page is now an option to CLICK to see:
I have picked and prepared images of various places that KT has taken me. These are displayed at 1000px wide. Some of my favorite pics are there, including the one displayed above. I will be adding more pics so check in regularly to see new images. The additions may not always be at the end of the list.
Notice the control buttons at the top of the display. The keyboard keys (as indicated) will also function for maneuvering thru the selection options.
You're welcome to comment here about your favorite image out of those posted or make a suggestion to add to the group of pictures some other images you like from my previous ride reports.
I'll be back on the road before too long and will post here and in My Motorcyle Chronicles the next report of the place(s) that I visit.
Thanks for virtually riding along with me.

Thanks Ken, and may I add that I too have been suffering with a nasty head cold. I get these about every ten years whether I need them or not. While my engine cases have been repaired and my new parts received I haven’t been back into the breezeway,(25F), isn’t feasible and may have led up to the cold issue.

When you're chasing adrenaline, you really aren't discouraged by gray skies. But it's always nicer riding in the sunshine during the winter months. The temperature was supposed to reach 50° this day and there may be no more days in January to reach that warmth.
I rode thru Spring Grove. This town has a paper mill. Whenever the air is somewhat stagnant, that musty smell just hangs in the air. I'm sure people who live there get used to it, but those who travel thru do so quickly and sometimes hold their breath.
I enjoyed about 50 miles of riding without any incidents. I got my fix of adrenaline and will look forward to a nice day in February for another dose.
There's always more to see and read about my ride in My Motorcycle Chronicles.
