Reminds me of a kids cheap toy motorcycle. Caricature is a nice description.

975 came into life only above 4k rpm... even with the sport map...
good bye low grunt...
not a sport bike either...
100 kms circa with a full tank of 11 liters
1250 plenty of power and torque... i give her that...
not a bike for riding as well...
badly needs true suspensions and different wheels
more thirsty than the 975
same 11 liters tank
both...
pricey for what you get...
again a bike for whealty guys who like to be seen much more than to enjoy riding...

Theres a reason our “old” Sportsters have nearly 60 years of history. I might add that while I was always attracted to them but it wasn’t until the turn of the century that I had my first one. A revelation with its low down grunt and relatively nimble handling characteristics. I’d ridden about everything available the first 40 years so I had a lot for comparison. Might be why I have three of them now with over 360,000 miles plus on their collective odometers. I really like feeling the pull coming on below 3,000 r.p.m.’s. I’ve ridden a couple 600 c.c. crotch rockets and a 750 c.c. M.V Augusta, and while very nice packages I wasn’t overwhelmed with the lack of pull under 4,000 r.p.m. I will admit that the addictive run in the higher rev. range was near mind boggling it was more “work” with the gear box. And if you were cooking on backroads care was mega important entering turns when close to the power surge as the front end wants to get light. Not the best for traction. Just saying I’m old, I’m old school and I’m happy with my antiquated Sportsters.

Mostly because it is a girl's bike. Plus everything after 2003 sucks. Plus everything after 1984 sucks. etc.

Agree.
Too bad when a company with the history of the moco becomes ruled by "styling", and bad styling at that. (my opinion)
Dealerships have become "boutiques"
But I'm an old fkr and will enjoy my "real motorcycles" until De Lawd calls me home
Bought my girl a pair of pretty pink sneakers this week; maybe I should have gone to the dealership for them. But they were only $100. so reckon amazon was the best choice

I have a 2007 Sportster 883.
After seeing the reviews (Shills?) of the Nightster, I thought about upgrading to one.
I rode both an Indian Scout and a Nightster.
Nightster seat is NOT comforatble like the videos said. Power was great and I was sliding off my seat. Seat can be fixed. Ergonomis are more like a sport bike and make me lean forward. That can be fixed too, but how many cable / brake cable changes will I need. I rode a 2022 sportster on the same day just to compare. Sportster was way more comfortable stock for me. Dealer was wack and quoted $18K before fees tax, tag title.. I left and have not gone back.
I rode a scout and although I'm not sure I like forward controls, it was really a nice ride stock. It too would need some ergonomics mods though. But dealer was straight and honest with pricing and printed out the sales order with the Out the door price. Torque on the Indian seemed more consistant too.

If I were to buy a new Motorcycle nothing the MOCO offers today does a thing for me... if i was forced to buy something maybe a FTR1200 with the ohlins bits... I'll just be happy with my ratty old 99S and 83XR for the next 20 years or so... they have changed with me and my tastes and that to me is the soul of a sportster...

I've got nothing against the Sportster S.
But it's a different kind of bike than the Evolution Sportster. And it's not my cup of tea.
They made the conscious effort to change the Sportster to something else. The market will decide if that was a good or bad decision.
If it was an emissions thing, I'm sure that problem could've been solved. The M8 is an air-cooled pushrod V-twin and it apparently meets all the rules.
