syn3 because I got the 1000mi service at HD, at 5000mi(400mi more to go) I'm going mobil1 or Amsoil I'm not going back to HD after paying $300, they didnt even notice the 1 bolt gone and one bolt halfway out on my front engine stabilizer in 3hrs, not to mention the vibration when they test drove it. I found a local shop that will do service cheaper and probably better. I talked to one mech. who swears by HD 50w, he told me the syn3 is meant for the V-rod that it's so slick it causes uneven wear on the roller rockers and engine . I still went syn since I have a friend thats been using mobil1 for 20years on his bike and no problems.

Drag Specialties Syn. after break-in miles. My indy introduced me to this brand, and while I can't say that it works better than anything else, it seems to do the job.

The mechanic is a dipstick........... I'm not a fan of synthetic oil unless it's to be used in an environment where it's needed, but as far as your mechanics ignorant statements - find one who can at least read and write. This guy is flat wrong on both counts.

I was actually giving Klown a hard time after the "Poser thread". I am currently running dino, but am going to make a purchase from Sportysrock for some Amsoil on my next oil change. Gotta keep supporting the supporting vendors or else they won't be able to support us!!!

As of right now, the poll is a bit surprising to me. Mobil1 in first place (not a surprise) but amsoil in 2nd place?!?! That's a surprise to me. While I admit Amsoil is not very difficult to get, it is more difficult to get then Mobil1. You can get mobil1 at wolly world or autozone or most places that they sell oil. BTW, I put amsoil in the sporty and Mobil1 in the cars

I've got a few years worth of Gold Cap M1 15w50..Target had them marked down to half price and I cleaned them out! I also add a few ounces of Valvoline Syn Oil Treatment which thickens it a little and adds a bunch of Moly!
I will go with Pennzoil Platinum when the M1 runs out. It's just as good as M1, but cheaper, especially since Mobil is getting cocky with their pricing..must be those razor thin profits.

I have Amsoil 20-50 in motor and stock HD in the tranny, but will be switching to Amsoil as soon as my Indy gets back in town. He closed shop for 3 weeks for a run to Cali. Switched to Amsoil in my bro's '01 883 when I was riding it and made a huge difference so no reason to use anything else. This stuff works just fine.
