Borrowed from another forum (might be in Sportsterpedia?):

Here are some HD and Andrews grinds.
Grind Duration Lift
D 270 .458 (stock 1200)
W 272 .470 (stock 1200S)
V2 290 .465
N2 290 .440
N4 296 .490
Your 1200S stock cam with it's shorter duration and higher lift will produce maximum torque at a lower RPM where you need it for the street.


The N4 is more radical with a longer duration and higher lift than the W grind 1200Sport cams.

I was under the impression the n4 would actually generate more power although the peak may move to a higher rpm. If they don't actually make more power I wouldn't bother.

I understand your impression to be correct.
For the street, I was very happy with the stock W grind...but I very much like low end grunt.

Don't ask me to interpret them though.....

We have some info in the Sportsterpedia although it's not complete yet.
Evo Cams
Degreeing Cams (includes finding and explaining some of the lift figures.

Note, Max lift is a basically a useless piece of data.
TDC tells you if you're gonna smack a valve into a piston.
Duration leads to the opening and closing times which affects top or bottom end as Sportsterdoc mentioned.

I have set of N6 Andrews and its a good cam. I would like to know do I HAVE to change pinion gear ''angle'' to get them working properly even in manual said they are bolt on,but they sugest 4,5 degrees earlyer pinion gear. Thank you .

Anyone come up with a coil relocation solution for these bikes? I saw one member had fabbed something up (wish I had those skills), and another member in Europe bought a bracket from a company MW in Germany (they won't ship to US).

I cobbed one together out of scrap metal and a swap meet horn/motor mount. Hangs off the left side in the breeze.
