Hey Jamie, Glad to see you posting again... And glad to hear you've been riding and not simply storing that bike...

LOL, it literally looks exactly the same. I barely put two tanks through it last year thanks to a job change right before the Coof hit. I want to run it more this year to work but need a larger front sprocket as it's 10 minutes further and I don't like buzzing it above 4k on the interstate for too long.

For pics there's this, a '29 Ford model A based speedster the past two years. Hoping to get the body finished this summer. Then build a blown 4 banger powerplant and see if it'll make the commute down I-81 on occasion.

I’ll echo Kens comments about your return, and the newer project is awesome, please keep us posted, thanks.

Today's saga. Pics are clickable if you really want to.

Further with the fairing.

Spool gun for 14ga aluminum? They say you can't do this kinda stuff.

Really, really like the lines on this fairing.

And with the screen sorta in place. I have a new one coming from some Chinese guy on eBay. ETA ugknown...

And then this happened trying to get the sprocket nut off. Even looking at the manual I still managed to turn it the normal way to remove.

SMDH... All is not lost though.

Drilled a hole in the nut and eventually split it with a cold chisel.

Welded up with the spool gun.

Drilled a drill guide, 3/8" on one side and 5/16" for the tap hole one inch apart so it lands where the old one was.

Drilled and tapped, all better

All this for this, 30T replacing the 29T... Should be able to buzz down the interstate slightly below 4000rpm or slightly faster than before...

Waiting on a $10 nut. I just replaced the sprocket a couple years ago and can't believe that I forgot the LH nut. More to come...

So another partial weekend on the Sporty. Worked up some new gauge pods that will actually cages the gauges in the mounting plate. The old cups were glued in place and that didn't work out so well long term. Pictures are clickable for the full sized versions.

A chunk of scrap aluminum idler became the tubes.

Very lightweight now. Filled a trash can with aluminum spaghetti.

Elegance...

Rolled it outside for a look-see and am pretty happy with it. The fairing might be a shade to large looking for the bike but it's smaller than the commercial ones. The headlamp is also aimed down in the picture so the whole thing will flatten out once properly aimed. I do like the blue side covers. Bahama blue Duplicolor is pretty close from a distance.

More to come.

Don't tell anyone but that purdy is covering up a mistake.

The little step on the edge of the cap is supposed to fit into the cup but I didn't have enough depth to clamp the plate (everything rattled) so I flipped it over, chucked the gauge and everything in the lathe and used my flap wheel grinder to radius the edge while it turned at slow speed. Cheaters sometimes win.
