Default 1250 Conversion troubles

Greetings, XLF members,

I just finished up converting my '98 883 to a 1250 Hammer and after doing the heat cycles, have run into some issues I'm hoping you experts and veterans will weigh in on.

So, the setup, for the record, is:
1250 kit, 10:1 compression
stock 883 heads
Andrews N4 cams
Dyna 2000i ignition running dual fire with stock coil
lousy Lowbrow Customs shotgun pipes (blech, I know, will fix this later)

CV40 - 45 pilot, 185 main, stock needle, slide, A/F screw 2 turns out (had it as much as 3 turns out, for reference here) homemade air cleaner with a small cotton element filter (worked great before conversion).

So, trouble is from the first startup, it didn't run well, wouldn't hold idle, wouldn't run without choke pulled all the way out. I had to turn the idle screw quite farther than I should have to get it to hold idle at around 1,000. Did the brief 1 mile run and checked the plugs:

Front cylinder looks relatively good, light gray.
Rear cylinder plug is carbon-fouled and I smell some raw fuel on it.

So, I've got to take it next for the several mile ride and heat cycle.

I know these things are impossible to diagnose from distance but could you all give me somethings to check for why the stark difference in plug condition and poor running? I would much appreciate any help and happy to provide any additional info needed. Thanks.
