Default 2016 1200C No Running lights

Bought the bike used and neither the blinkers nor the LED taillight have a running light. Blinkers work and brake light works when engaged. No fuses found. Looks like only 2 wires to the blinkers and single filament bulb. Are they supposed to be running lights like the front blinkers?

Blinkers don't work then they do. Which is it? Is this an Irish joke?

What does engaged mean? The brake light ought to come on when you press the foot brake or pull the front lever.

The Custom has the rear light for running so indicators are not used at the back so that is correct.

Under the left side cover is the maxi fuse holder. If you open that you will see two smaller fuses. That is all your bike has if not messed with.

The led tail lights on the Custom are notorious for failing unfortunately.

When you turn on the ignition what do you see exactly? What lights do you see?

Are you saying I am giving mixed signals? lol
Found the fuses and they all look good. The blinkers blink but don't do running lights like the front. when the bike is running the back of the bike has zero lights unless you engage the brake or turn on the blinkers. The front of the bike has blinker running lights as well as the headlight.

So the LED lights fails for running lights? Just need to replace it?

The center Taillight serves as a Running Light, Brake Light & License Plate Light...

The wiring from that center Taillight should run up under the fender to a connector (40B) in front of the fender.

Wiring on that connector 40A/B is as follows:

Connector 40B (Taillight Wires) ............ Connector 40A (Wiring Harness)

BLUE --------- Pin1 ------ RED/Yellow - Accessory Power from BCM, Pin M2 (Constant Power for Running Light & LicPlate Light)
RED/Yellow --- Pin2 ------ BLUE/Red --- Brake Lamp Power from BCM, Pin K3 (Power only when Brake is applied)
BLACK -------- Pin3 ------ BLACK ------ GROUND - System Ground

You can put a meter on the pins at 40A (Wiring Harness Connector) and test for power on Pin1 (constant), power on Pin2 when brake applied & ground on Pin3 (constant)...

Sometimes, the tire rubs the wiring in the fender well and causes damaged or broken wires... Check that out...

The BCM controls the Turn Signals... I know some models can have the BCM reprogrammed at the dealer to function in different ways... I don't know if that includes working as Running Lights.

You might check into that if you want the rear turn signals to also function as running lights (low power would equal running light & high power would equal turn Signal)... If used as Running Lights, some states require the lense color to be RED instead of ORANGE...

On my 09 1200c the rear turn signals do not serve as running lights....only the front turn signals do. 2016 I do not know, but would expect them to be the same.
