Default Finally some nice weather in the northeast!

Cracked open the stasis chamber this morning and started to bring my machines back to life. They all sit on chargers over the winter but I like to roll them into the sun for a few hours before trying to start them. Warms the oil a little and puts less stress on the first start of the season. Going to be warm and dry for the next few days in north eastern Massachusetts so I’ll get to ride one of them this weekend.

Every street bike I’ve owned has had a center stand that when I put the bike away for the dark days of winter it takes the sitting weight off the suspension and
tyres. Not the sportster. I put it up on the bike jack and jam a 2x4 into it to keep it up.

I realize sportypaul never puts his bike in storage no matter how cold it gets in the frozen swamp that he winters in.

So how many people who need to store their sportster for the winter get them up off the suspension? I would assume that it would help avoid sidewall cracks and flat spots on the tyres and lets the oil in the suspension components drain down to where it belongs. It’s just one of the many anal things I do for maintenance that I think helps keep my scooter riding the way I like it.

Default centerstands

I wasted several tires from sidewall cracks. Now when I store my bikes I add 5-10 psi extra. Centerstands on Ironheads are a PIA. Hard to lift without proper grab bars and I'm getting old.

Right! Now that’s an outfit that I can not visualize you ever wearing while on your sporty.

I know someone who blasted off on his bike for another six pack, wearing that exact outfit. He did make it back onto the bike, about a year later....

Almost threw my leg over the sportster this morning. Was 82 @ 8am on the front porch. They are predicting 100 with way higher ‘feels like’ temps. Made it as far as my shed door and started to sweat heavily. Holy shit it’s hot now.
This is not normal for this area.
I’ll try again when the sun goes down.

Hot and humid over here, 6-8” of rain over the last few days, severe storms and flood alerts. Not a lot of fun just now.

Well instead of baking in the heat like we did a week back, we are now going under water with all the rain.
