Default Lowbrow Tsunami fender - drill 2-up hole?

Hey folks, I'm in the process of doing a tracker overhaul of my 2003 but I still want to keep it usable as a 2-up for short rides.

I like Lowbrow's Tsunami fender, which is only drilled for a solo seat. It looks like its *probably* long enough to drill the mounting hole for a standard 2-up seat, but does anyone know for sure?

this one is on my 1983 XR1000... I can measure for you... I slotted the holes 1.5d to get the final adjustment just right ...

Whoa, your thread is also exactly what I was looking for... I've been thinking of putting an USD front-end on my 2003, and the obvious choice would be an XR1200 front-end but I couldn't find info on whether it bolts right up. If I'm reading your thread correct, sounds like it does??

How hard is it to source XR1200 front ends? I also wonder if XL1200CX fronts are interchangeable too.

well the 1999S front end was a bolt on to the 1983... and the 2012 was a bolt on to the 1983, not sure about 2003... check sporsterpedia.... I have 2 XL1200X front ends.. Kinda one used and 1 new... the used natural triple tree on the XR with new legs and the used stuff i bought is going on my 99 1200S with a new Black triple tree.. maybe this weekend as its prolly too windy for boating and drinking.. Ill measure for you this weekend but the Magic 8 ball eyeball says yes it will fit...

its a bit more than just bolting on though... spring rates, damping rates, and fork length all come into play for what you plan on doing...

Never saw Sportsterpedia before, super helpful! And yup, all along the East coast its been very windy lately. Was in Key West a couple weeks ago and couldn't get out on a boat because of that.

Definitely expect to get new springs/etc to suit my bike. And guess I'll need to source the front brakes from the XR1200 too.

Wheel-wise the XR has its own axle size, right? So I'll need either an XR1200 wheel or get a wheel laced up to that hub?

wheel choice is a little more challenging... two sizes 3/4" (early) and 1"/25mm (later) using 3/4 wheels on a 25mm axle is not a Bolt on... the 4 piston calipers should bolt right up VROD and others... Im using the XR 1200 front and rear calipers on my 83... the rear was not a bolt on either...

brake rotor spacing is also tricky depending on which wheel you use: narrow mid and wide geometries exist... XR1200 is mid... Brake Rotor overall diameters, hub diameter, thickness all have to be taken into account (2 styles) also there are wide band and narrow band rotors... wide will work with narrow band calipers but narrow band rotors not a good idea with wide band calipers... and be careful using earlier laced spoked wheels as the later 4 piston calipers can interfere with the spokes on ealier wheels... my head hurts now.. more later... if you want to know about using 18 or 19 inch front wheels on the rear..

Hah, I appreciate you hurting your head to help me out.

Sounds like basically the best thing is to use XR1200 calipers, rotors, axle, and wheel all from the same or similar year. I noticed this Performance kit here: https://www.shoputahharley.com/produ...nt=33032877316 Are you saying that for mounting to my frame it'll simply use any XR1200 triple?

I plan on leaving my rear brakes and setup as-is but maybe having Cognito build a 19" wheel on an Excel rim and my original OEM hub.

I bought exactly that kit for my XR1000 after sniping parts on fleabay to mock everything up... now the mockup parts that are perfectly functional are headed for my 1999 XL1200S... YMMV
