Default Dynatek DSPT-1 w hammer 1275

Anyone run this ignition with a 1275 kit? I tried 28c setting and it idles great and acceleration is awesome but the engine makes a racket on this thing. The TC88A idles awful and acceleration off idle is choppy on the recommended 2-0 but not noisy like this. Guess I’ll try 28B to see if that changes anything I really want to like this ignition module.

I run 28B on my bike. Think that C is for turbo applications. If I wack the gas at low rpm it will rattle a little. Keep rpm up and ask the boys at Hammer

I just finished the break in on my 1275 kit and am running the Dynatek DSPT-1 on 28c as well. I've noticed a slight increase in valve train noise but I haven't compared it with the TC88A (which I was using before)

Can you describe the noise you are talking about in more detail? Is it general valve train noise (ie. the sewing machine type clatter)? Or pinging? Or something else?

Thanks for commenting, yes valve train clatter but louder than Im used to and definitely louder than with the TC88A on 2-0.

HBSporty thx, Hammer recommends 28C for break in but have 1000 miles on the new top end so will try the 28B and see what happens.

Did you replace anything in your valve train during upgrade? Not sure why ignition would cause mechanical valve noise. New cams, lifters, or rockers might. Sure it's not pinging?

John it’s not pinging nope. Same cams, lifters, rockers. I did the break in and up to 1000 miles with the TC88A on settings 2-0 l. Thought I’d throw in the Dynatek because I bought it and wanted to check it out. A lot more noticeable engine clatter with this ignition.

Don't quite understand valve train noise with an ignition change, being a dinosaur many simple things escape me.
I do know that adding rocker lockers to my '06 did quiet down some of my clatter, and the witness marks in the bolts were impressive. Sorry for getting off track.

Did you do anything else to the engine at the same time as changing the ignition module?

Oil Change?

Guys no other changes just took out the TC88A and dropped in the DSPT-1. Tomorrow gonna change it to the 28b setting and hopefully take a ride. If that doesn’t make her happy I’ll just put the TC88A back in.

Might also be worth trying 26C as well, while you're at it. I guess one of the good things about the DSPT is that it's easy to adjust, albeit a lot more limited than the TC88A.
