Doing it yourself pays for any tool you might want, you keep the tools, and you build mechanical skills which pay off for a lifetime.

The last motorcycle I took to a dealer was my MT 250 Honda in 1978. I don't hate on dealers, but I do enjoy independence, saving gobs of money, and having my bike my way.

Nothing on a Harley is difficult compared to working on cars or trucks. Study, learn the right way (this forum is the best Sportster resource on the internet, nothing else comes close), then go for it.

And I enjoy changing oils/clutch adjustment

Aside from not having to take her somewhere and pay $

I also know for sure which oils are where-I think there's a thread here about that...

Buy the bars, the longer cables, and pigtails(wire extenders), then do it yourself. It's not a difficult job, and doesn't require a lift, or much in the way of tools. Get your parts aftermarket, as Harley makes you pay 3x more for the EXACT same parts.
