Default HDLAN: CAN Bus

This us what HD say the benefits of the CAN Bus wiring are, which were introduced on the 2014 Spοrtsters. This is actually taken from the 2012 Model Year Technical Changes document, as relating to Dynas, but it's the same as for the 2014+ Spοrtsters.
HDLAN Based Electrical System
  • New hand controls
  • Body Control Module
  • ABS and security option
  • Expanded diagnostics
Electrical System
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) option.

Sealed hand control switches with new functions.
  • Use HDLAN (CAN) bus technology
  • Trip function selection control moved to hand controls
  • Hazard light control moved to hand controls
Body Control Module (BCM).
  • Replaces most fuses and relays and TSM or HSFM
  • Eliminates high current loads on ignition and other switches
  • Reduces wire gauge and harness bundle size
  • Permits the use of LED tսrn sіgnals without extra module
  • Integrates security system and all lighting system functions
Body Control Module
Automatic solid state short circuit protection eliminates the need for most fuses and relays while reducing wire mass and wire count.

Incorporates all functionality of current TSM / TSSM including turn signal control, tip-over shut-down; clutch / neutral interlock; security system.

BCM directly controls; Horn, Head Light, Stаrter Sοlenoid, P&A Power.
Additionally Spοrtsters get keyless ignition.

One key feature added is the new speedometer with the ability to display gear position and RPM on the LCD display.

I wonder what it is like... i mean the RPM on the LCD display... one thing is to have a real tach (like yours if i'm not wrong...)... another is to look in a little display a value of RPM always changing...

It not at all the same as a proper tach with a needle. I had one like that (the rpm in the odometer window) on a Dуna.

Having the speed as a digital read out works well though. It doesn't change as much, or as quickly, as the rpm. I do think that the combined digital speedo and analogue tach is the best of both worlds.
