my 07 stumbled on startup, then I changed the battery cables. Fixed it.

Care to elaborate on your "fix"?

Why yes I can! Check out:

I would recommend doing this upgrade. Considering you mag have to do it eventually anyway, it's not a bad idea.

My 2011 48 never does this. It might run a little off at first if it's cold, but that is because it has an engine lol I never really let my bike warm up, I just take it easy until SKIDKING warms up.

Question

so, 2007LOW started this thread 7 years ago. his bike was fixed by H-D setting him up w/ a tuner & a better tune. it's now 2015 - my wife also owns a 2007 1200 LOW & also has the stumble while warming up. does anyone out there know if H-D has an updated calibration for this concern, w/ out having to spend $450 on a tuner?

Is this still an issue on bikes from 2012 and newer?
Interested to know.
Reason I ask is its getting cold here now with ambient temps of a morning around the 3 to -5 deg C range and tops of 13 deg C.

I let my bike warm up for approx 5 minutes tops - or once the engine rpms drop to regular idle speed then ride it gently for another 5 or so minutes. I took a look inside the oil bag as I started it up and watched the honey rise. Seriously like honey in viscosity.
I called lube support at Penrite Oil and they said that the oil I was using (Penrite MC4ST V-TWIN 20W-50 PAO & Ester oil was rated down to -15 deg C. https://www.penriteoil.com.au/produc...w-50-pao-ester)
A bit off topic I know but was searching "cold start".
Would be interesting to watch an evo engine start up dead stone motherless cold with no rover box covers on to see how long until you see oil lubricating things up there.
Cheers

I run PCV on all my sportsters, I add 5% fuel at 1500 Rpm's It makes it cold start much smoother without stumbles and stalls, it also has a feature to add the fuel for 30 seconds and up each time you start the bike
