Default CV Vacum piston Damage

Had issues with the carb flooding since i got the bike cleaned it out changed the fuel pump diagram and float needle an it's been great.
Bike died after riding well for 200 Miles on a trip, Knowing I've had issues with the carb before drained it abit and it started again no issues. However this kept happened every 10miles, so I took a long trip home on the back of a truck. Next morning it would only go a 1/4 mile if that before dying.
Figured I'd take it apart get it ultra sonic cleaned and give it another go.

Pulling it apart everything inside looks clean still, however I did notice the damage here when I pulled the piston out.

Is it time to throw this out? What affects would this damage have?
Diaphragm it's self still looks to be in good condition.

Right now debating buying all the rebuild kits or switching to Mikuni.

Not Good - Melted from backfiring?

Was the slide vacuum hole drilled out?

Here's the Sportsterpedia (SP) section on the CV40 carb:
Tuning Your CV40 Carb

Pay attention to the Idle & Transfer port information...

Any mods to the Carb? Check the stock specs in the SP link above...

It did backfire once or twice, so guess that was it.
Any sense in still using it ?

Hole isn't drilled out,
Mods - Jets 175/45 - Brass fuel inlet.

I would be suspicious of using it - The Diaphragm itself & the seal to the slide are probably compromised (charred/brittle/thinned?)...

BUT - You have it in hand - If you clean it up & it looks serviceable, you could try it (depends on how you feel about time & effort -vs- money to replace it)...

No sense in risking it again, will order a new a one.
I'm in Canada so had trouble trying to get a replacement that would arrive by the weekend so ended up ordering the Mikuni 42 Carb. Will rebuild the CV once I get the parts.
