Have you tried the Goodyear belt? It is supposed to be stronger than the regular belt although I did break one going about 20-25 mph on skyline drive on the way to the first west Virginia run. Boy was that fun. It was even more fun for Tigger because he had to ride something like 60 miles back to wear we left from that morning in VA to get a new belt since it was the only one that had one in stock.

Kelley, check the condition of your pulleys, may be affecting the belts.

This belt is a gates, The last one was a harley brand. I have looked over my pulleys and i dont see anything that stands out. I am gonna do a chain conversion this winter. Motorcycles should have chains.

I live on a dirt road. The sand gets in the pulleys and wears the teeth down sharp. It is not just a few grains of sand on the belt. When you run the dirt road after a rain the mud splashes all over everything and it has grains of sand in it. Pulleys and belt usually last about 50,000 to 60,000 miles. No complaints about that....... the chains and sprockets would only go about 8,000 miles and you had to flip the sprockets at about 6,000 to get that. Dirt roads are bad on belts and chains.

i snapped one doing wheelies, got about 10 wheelies out of it, just changed my rear brake pads last weekend and noticed my new belt had a huge stone in it, running the goodyear now, nice belt.

Mine gave way after about 50000km. It had done at least 4 dyno sessions and the bike has 100+RWHP and torque. I was very impressed with it.

A bit over 55,000 miles on my 883. I'm on the original belt. I don't thrash the bike but I do live down about a mile of dirt road. Agreed that in the wet crud gets everywhere. I admit I try to avoid riding if the road's really wet.

Broke belt a little after 60k miles on my '08. Start up in parking lot, leaving work one night. Start in neutral, drop into first, let clutch and give gas. No move. WTF. Look around, broken belt. Looked like it had eaten a small rock at one point, broke at damaged section.
Kept belt, will add buckle and glom it onto my riding jacket.
