.45 acp or .45 Colt? My wife has a .410/.45 Colt derringer, it is a handful but at 7 yards nasty.
That would be awesome at close range especially with modern .410 rounds. Hell on snakes.

Yeah, they are hell on snakes. I got one with 4 inch barrels. With .410 #6 shot it will take the snake head clean off at about 5 feet.

Savage makes some good desert guns. I like the 24V that is .357/20 guage. You can pick em up pretty reasonable price here in Texas.

They go for around 600 bucks and under. Depending on condition and where you are.
Hacksaw stock and barrel and you got one off pistoleero. Esse.

But then. I would not ruin a nice built gun like this that way. Light and powerful. Plus accurate.
