Default Shelby GT 500 vs Sportster

I've been looking at new cars recently because my pick up has a lot of miles and is getting old. I test rode some new Ford Mustangs. The car salesman said, "Try out the Shelby."

I said, "No way do I want to spend that much money."

He said, "Who cares, the boss won't let anybody drive it unless they have a serious customer. Let's go."

SOB. That is one nice car. It's not quite comfortable enough, and too expensive, for a daily driver, so I'd keep it in the garage for weekend drives and keep the old pick up for a daily driver.

Problem is, in order to afford the Shelby, I'd have to sell the Sportster, all my other toys, ebay all the junk in my garage, brown bag lunch every day, cash out my retirement fund, and steal my wife's kitchen remodel money.

I wish I just said no.

Personally, I would keep the sportster, but that's me and I didn't test drive the shelby. However, I will never abandon my sportster, but others may be less attached. I say you give it a couple of weeks. If you still can't get the shelby out of your mind, then you may need to test drive it again and see how you feel after that.

Please do not give me any rational advice.

I need a smack up against my head.

The 5.0 GT still has a pretty nice punch(~412HP) and has a 6 speed for about $29k.

F.W.I.W. I test drove a new 1966 Cobra,(289), and 45 years later the memory is still sharpely imbedded in my mine! Would love to have that very same car today!

The late model Mustangs just feel too small for me. They do not make efficient use of the space they have. John, rent a Mustang for a couple of days. I think that as big as you are you will see what I mean.

LOL! Unless your wife also has a penchant for Stangs I'm sure there won't be a problem - kitchen remodelled or your life won't be worth living

Personally I'd love the Shelby too... and since I have a dislike for kitchens, that bit wouldn't be a factor... but the fact that it is $169,500 (~US$180,000) registered, on road, drive away here in Australia it is really a mute point
