Default 2002 883R heads?

How much are a set of 2002 883R heads worth that are very clean in bolt on condition?

That particular head is somewhat rare, because it's the only black 883 head made for that generation of bike, and it was only offered for 3 model years. Whenever we get a set of those in, they go pretty fast.

As compared to the much more common silver version, we pay a little more for the "R" heads and we get a little more for them as well. But not crazy more. If a guy wants black, we can always powder coat any set for a hundred dollar bill and they look like new.

I would say put them on Ebay and see what the market is willing to pay. $150 to $200 would not surprise me. More than that would surprise me, but it's not out of the question. They'll go there if you find two guys who both want them badly.

If I put a 1200 kit on my 2002 883R, do I have to port the heads? or is there something special already done to that particular model. I want it to be able to breathe. I'll put rear controls on it and cafe' racer it. I got a lead on a repro stock HD cafe' racer fairing. I wonder what off the shelf exhaust fits with rears.

There's nothing special about the 883R motor, as compared to the regular 883 motor, except the color. Same heads, cams, etc.

The vast majority of conversions are done with the stock 883 heads. But you need reverse dome conversion pistons.
