We had one on display at the dealership in the corner of the show room with the big poster HD put out, "The eagle takes flight". It sat there for about 5-6 months. don't remember it leaving but I do remember one of the other tech's putting a battery in it and servicing it for delivery. I've seen four in the flesh as it were my life. That one, there is one I see on occasion being ridden around the metro area , bought one that had been repainted and modified (still had the "Milwaukee" decal on the bottom tree cover) and I have one in my collection. Mine looked like this one I obtained and I have since installed all OEM NOS bits to take it back to stock.

i always liked the paint scheme on the Milwaukee Special.i painted my tank similar in the 80's,but used a bar and shield sticker.

I have a very rideable, and very rebuilt ironhead for less than $4250. I'm trying to figure out who, other than the derisive sainthood of xlforum, decides what bike is worth what dollar amount.

Is it a color?
Is there a certain number of receipts of work done to meet a dollar amount for resale?
What if the work done has been done outside of the approval of the saints? Are there dollars deducted?
What if the bike is a left side shift, but without a rear disc brake? Do we need to factor zip code pricing caps?
Are the bikes the bowlers built becoming valuable, if the right person decides so?
Does working for the MoCo at some point in life add to the ability to decide what a bike is worth?
In my field, some of the biggest liabilities have been the ones the factory taught.

I can say for certain that the monetary value of a bike is worth what the buyer is willing to pay on the day. It's always up to them.
Some buyers are more knowledgeable than others, some prospective buyers often don't know as much as they THINK they know.

It's business and I tell everyone to pick a figure they are willing o pay/accept and then just stick to it. If you don't want to regret the decision later on, that works.

There are so many variables that go into the price of any given bike that it's impossible to say what's "fair" value exactly. There is always some grey areas where one buyer may pay more for one bike than another.
