Default What should I do about this garbage work?

The heads were hogged out terribly AND used dished pistons.. I can only imagine a third grade level of reading comprehension if they thought they needed to do both.
And of course... the deck height is a solid 3/8” from the top of the jug as shown by the ring of carbon buildup.

Previous owner kept having her bike worked on by what seemed like barely functioning adults.
Everything on this bike was ridiculous from the wiring to the exhaust studs, backbone tank mounting holes, t to chamber work as you can see here.

Even the sissy bar was welded on to the struts at one point leaving terrible scarring from them cutting and grinding it off. I’m just ranting cause although the bike ran somewhat fine and I got it for 1700, I can’t stop finding evidence of bullshit work.

Should I just run it?
Rode the HELL out of it daily for two months and never had any problems. Tossed the old head gaskets but it looked like that gouge was starting to let combustion eat away at it but nothing crazy

I was just dying to know what was going on inside since she said it was rebuilt after breaking down due to shit work from boring it out.
Maybe that’s why they hogged the heads out?..

Well. I remember back when 1200 craze hit on 883 owners.

There ended up being a ton of cheap jugs and heads on ebay.
Edit: Like 40 bucks a head and jugs usually came in 100 dollar sets.

Only problem. That was then. This is now.

I'd replace hinky parts myself. Nice buy for 1700 . I understand the angst.
It is your baby now though. Dress her up right.

Good luck.

2nd edit> Tripping out on user name and thread description. Hardtailed cafe racist.

Hahaha. I used to want nothing more than to build a cafe racer when I got my first bike, a cb900 but I quickly grew to hate the things and how cookie cutter they were the more I saw em so the name resonated with me

Was a shit pile when I got her.
Still is but I’d like to think I made her a little more mine
Still have a ways to go

And my cb900 for boredom’s sake!

Like the led setup on the 900.

She slammed that down, not a hardtail though. Short legs probably.
Threw the frontend out there also.
Shorter tubes can fix that.

Edit: Motor looks good though when you bought it.
