The electrics on the early Buells were very similar to the Sportster Sport model... Using many of the same ignition parts...

Check the Bank Angle Switch:

Make sure you have power on the center pin of the Coil Connector cable (Brief few seconds at Key ON - during the powering of the fuel pump)

Disconnect-Clean-Reconnect the Cam Sensor connection that is under the bike - 3-wire triangular connector...

The common cause of this issue in Buells is the kickstand switch. Some Buell owners carry a paper clip with them so they can bypass it

Aaron - Isn't that just to keep the Ignition Relay activated when you try to ride off? The Ignition Relay sounds like it is activated while parked (in Neutral) since the fuel pump runs...

Only _ONE_ of these three is required (right ? ):
Trans in Neutral
Clutch Lever Pulled In
Or Kickstand Up

It's alive!!! Not sure exactly what I did but something worked ha ha. I won't be taking any long adventurous trips yet but hey on the right track. I basically looped the kickstand clutch and nuetral switches. I couldn't get the nuetral light to come on so I just kept scratching my head and wiggling wires and suddenly the nuetral light was staring at me, I hit the start button and it fired right up!

Would any of you guys happen to know what other models share the same ignition switch?

Ok so I narrowed down the issues to a faulty kick stand switch and the nuetral switch is intermittent. I think I'll leave the kick stand switch looped permanently but I'll be replacing the nuetral switch. New ignition is $165 bucks but I see a generic round key style 3 wire ignition on Amazon and e bay for $20 I wonder if it will work?

I'm not sure of the mounting of the Buell switch - but have a look at this recent thread:

Thanks that was a good read. I think it should work with a little grinder work to make two flat sides on the round barrel. Thanks for the reply. I'll update in a week or so when the part arrives.
