so
arrived the new Lexan window, with gasket and screws already treated with thread locker...
used in addition tiny brass washers 4 mm the hole and 0.5 the thickness between the screws and the glass...
preferred to not install the washers even on the inside (crossed my mind) since in my opinion the gasket would not be squeezed properly...
torqued as specs (5 inch/lbs).... i.e. just snug them in...

for the moment i keep a new machine alum derby cover i bought a week ago...
this is returned brand new anyway...

it could have been a nice component
the idea was good as well
much overpriced... really too much...
for a nonsense they ruined everything, name of the brand included...

it was enough to install simply a tempered glass instead of the cheap Lexan...

too much greedy...

a serious brand...
one who cares about his reputation...
one who have products that worth their high price... instead of sell repair component kits even in Lexan... obviously overpriced like the rest...
would have enforced a recall for all the pieces sold and retrofit them installing a tempered glass

overhere we have a saying that goes like that:
when the Devil make pots... he has to build even the lids

a little update... useful for all the folks screwed by RSD's clarity line...

start to tell that RSD competitors now do the same product... but with the glass window framed and not bolted directly on the derby cover... in this way the glass does not develop cracks overtime...

I bought that product... machined with craftsmanship by PM and sold by RSD for 250 euros... replaced the glass 2 times... 2 times the glass cracked... never had a leak for grace of God... 2 nd glass on warranty... shipped as repair kit... (yeah RSD know the issue and sell repair kits at a high price either)...

I think that is a product for riders who rolls only a couple thousand miles on a year...

so to wrap it up... I regretted to discard that cover only 'cause the glass was faulty... so I fabricated myself with a 3 mm thick alum bar a new window... then shimmed the screws with some copper washers to comply with the former 6 mm thickness of the glass...

yeah I know you like pics... so here they are..

i have no grinder or electric saw... so my job was of manual saw and file...

for one day the cover was full of oil and not leaked at all...

it lacks only to test on the bike

Good fix.

I think a waterjet could do the job of cutting them from proper tempered glass fairly economically
