the bottom is not in finished form. it actually is in service.
the other two are made from common electrical conduit fittings. one is soldered and the other is threaded.
experimental is never to look good, not a finished product

do you know what the first manifold the merlin block used was made from and it was passing 1500 hp when they shut it down.

it was machined out of a piece of oak
the merlin block was a highly developed piece of machinery and there was many changes before the final product was made. that said, engineering and development of the manifold was also a work in progress so instead of wasting $$$$$ on molding/machining, a common cheap material was used.
man i would like to have that block in my silverado to pull my parachute of a travel trailer, probably wouldn't get and worst fuel mileage!

That was a good idea!

I use aluminum for form tooling-it's much quicker to machine than steel and all my work is prototyping-usually only a couple parts are needed and quite often it changes when they get the samples. Time is the most important thing

Funny thing nobody else does that-I didn't until I tried it about 30 yrs ago

3D printing is taking care of both of those methods. Printing in steel and alloys removes lots of rough material removal time.

Yep
When the process evolves (and it will) where 3D printing can create parts .003" thick using spring temper metals I will have to find another way to suck eggs
