Tranny upgrade
Ok so I just picked up my new to me buell. This was my first ever rode on street bike so it has some memories for me. The issue with it is that it had a bent shifter fork, I think stuck in 3 it has all been torn apart and the dog seems to be ok just one fork outta shape. Replacing the main bearing , forks, gaskets anything else. Or is there a possible trans upgrade I should look into before I get it done.

Baker shift drum or drill the stock one to replace the detent plate retaining ring with a screw. Other than that, you can get a billet trap door or a Baker 6 speed that comes with all of the above, but you're talking serious cash in those cases. Even the Baker smooth shift kit is like $300.
BTW the reason to replace the retaining ring with a screw is because there is a REASON the stock detent plate is called a grenade plate. The ring breaks very easily, including on my XL1200S when it had 15,000 miles.

also when you take off the detent make sure to tap in all the pins behind it as they tend to wander out which cause the trans to not shift properly.

The bike is already in pieces. Bucket of parts for me to reassemble. Still need to get replacement parts for it. New shifter forks and seals before I start re assembly. From what I was told it got stuck in 3rd and bent that fork, shifter drum appears to not have been effected but the one fork is bent for sure. I will be pricing out parts this weekend at my local dealership. I'm expecting about $500
