Default '00 Blast clutch/primary - changed oil and found a snap-ring

Hi! New to the forum and new to buells but not new to motorcycles at all.

Anyway, does anyone have an idea as to where a tiny little snap ring would have come from under the primary cover?

I have this 2000 Blast that I just picked up for a song and went to change the primary oil. Oil looked good sans this little tiny snap-ring that was stuck to the drain plug magnet. It was small enough that it came out the drain plug hole.

For the most part, all seems fine with the bike. I was planning on changing oil and adjusting the chain today because sometimes it would be grabby and kind of lurch starting in 1st gear.... now I am wondering if this has something to do with it.

I am reluctant to start taking things apart too far as the only reference I can find (in the FSM) to a snap ring is one on the clutch shaft and one on just aft of the actuator and I do not have the "special spring compressor tool" the manual references. I am a capable wrench but know nothing about non-metric bikes (I am a honda guy mostly).

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. The snap ring is about 1/4 inch or so in size. Can the clutch be taken apart and assembled again without the special tool? if so I will dive in, but if not then I have to figure something else out. The bike is a flipper so I dont want to invest in tools I will likely never need again.

- Justin
