Shifter shaft bushing
Hey everyone, I have a 1992 sportster xlh1200 and had an issue with the bike hitting a false neutral while shifting from first to second gear (most of the time) shift up again and it would go into third gear. So I did some research and saw that the detent plate (star) would sometimes let loose, so I took it apart yesterday and the detent star was still in place as it should be. However the shifter shaft wobbles around quite a bit, so I take that off and I'm assuming it just needs a new brass bushing since the bike has 38,000 miles on it. Have any of you had experience with this same issue? I cannot seem to find a replacement bushing on line so I may try some local Harley shops to locate one. Any help is appreciated, thanks! P.S, just purchased the bike.
