Clutch hub bearing number?
Greetings from a noob to this forum. Name's Lou, I've got a '00 Buell M2 with 85k on it, all stock for the most part. I ride to work every day and play in the curves on the weekend when I get the chance. I'm also a machinist, make all my own special tools and have a complete shop at my disposal. I've been riding 41 years, on and off road.
The bike's been making a "clack" noise from the engine lately. The noise is synched to engine rpm, not road speed, as it makes the noise at idle and the frequency of occurrence goes up as engine speed does. Coasting, in neutral, engine not running, no noise. That pretty much isolates it to the primary. Noise is intermittent but regular as in "clack", "clack"........"clack".
I pulled the primary apart yesterday and all the bearings that are visible look fine, sprockets and primary chain are still low wear, new style primary tensioner (the one with the thicker steel plate) is good, and all the magnets in the crank sprocket are solidly in place and no other items seem odd. I did notice that the ring gear has been rubbing slightly on the vertical arm of the shift shaft, where it moves the shift drum. The clutch outer basket seems more wobbly on the inner than it should, so my wild a** guess is that the bearing has gone, not enough to ditch the ball separator and shed balls, but worn out anyway.
So, my question to all who read this is, does anyone know what the number of the bearing is? Not the Harley part number, rather the "trade number" of the bearing. (as a for instance, trade number 6202 refers to a bearing for a 15mm shaft, 35mm o.d. and 11mm wide.) If I know the trade number I can get one from the bearing house ahead of time and have it ready to install next weekend, rather than wait around for the Harley dealer to open, get confused, tell me they can order it and make me make more trips than Timothy Leary.
If you know the trade number, or even the I.D., O.D., and width of the bearing and can let me know, I'll be forever grateful.

IXL2Relax, that's what I'm talking about. 6207 sounds a likely suspect, and the bearing house has them for $13 and change.

the old BCA number might have been 207,more balls would be 1207

Bringing up the dead thread to give more info for people in the future, but if it is in fact the same bearing as the Sportster clutch hub bearing (I didn't look up the part number to verify) then you can use a 6207-C3 bearing. I've got that in my 2002 and it's been in there the last 40k miles without issue.
I used an FAG 6207-C3 you can get on amazon. It was the real bearing, but double check because sometimes the fakes come shipped to you.
