Ive had too many other projects get in the way recently! Hopefully soon!

Chime in on this thread if anyone is interested in a billet sprocket cover for the Ironheads!

So. I have a question on this old thread.

The support assembly is NLA - what would be the interest on this board for some custom-fabricated version, based on the design?

Basically, I know a guy. It's certainly something he could hawk on flea-Bay, but it would be good to offer it up to the board first.

Something to think about...

I recently purchased an NOS sprocket cover kit (PN 348-7576A) for a 77 XLCH that I bought from a friend which had been sitting partially disassembled since 2006. At the time, all I wanted was an unbroken sprocket cover; I didn't know what the support bracket was for. After doing some research and finding this thread, I now see why it's so important. What I don't know is how to install the support. Would any of you guys be willing to post a basic set of installation instructions? In return I will make a YouTube video of the installation for others to use.

Iron Mike, I just got a basket case '77 and will be replacing the kick start shaft. I've tried to find this part (support bracket) on the NOS Parts website but having no luck. Do you have a part number for better description to search for? Thanks, David

Have you seen this in the Stickys? There are a few other related threads there as well...

'77 & '78 Kick Support
http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=721216

Part number 34848-77 is the actual spacer itself...

Boon in Europe may have them. Scroll down this page until you come to 34848-77...

https://www.jwboon.com/index2.php?co...n_transmission

Here it is at Sporty Parts, probably the best place to get one [if he actually has them]...

I broke 2 kick covers on my 77 xlh before I heard about the kick support, got one, simple install, been on there for years now, had to mark and grind a notch to clear my 23 tooth sprocket.

From the Stickys, here's some detail on the marking and grinding, for whoever may need it
