I have been a member of this forum for a pretty long time. I too have noticed an increase in non-ironhead talk lately. I agree with most of the members who have posted so far in that we should try to keep posts in this section of the forum somehow related to ironheads. I don't care if it's a 100 point restoration, a wild custom chopper, a pile or parts you just bought on craigslist, or a cool photo you took while out riding your ironhead with your ironhead buddies - just be about ironheads.
Mick, you are doing an excellent job! This is still the premier forum to discuss Ironhead Sportsters and you are largely responsible for that. Keep up the great work!

I gotta say that the Ironhead forum is different from all the other forums here. I find it very comfortable and friendly and have always felt very welcome to both ask and contribute. Perhaps because of that, it then feels comfortable to post up other stuff when you consider yourself amoung friends.
Great forum, not always perfect, but still the best on XLF in my opinion.

I don't mind off-topic discussions, but a spot has been made available for them here. If I want to check them out, I have the option, and I know where to find them. Why rely on the Mods to shuffle things around every time someone wants to post incorrectly? It's like needing a nanny. It's a waste of time and resources that could be spent on better things. For everyone. Posting off-topic in a forum is much like spam email; you have to wade through the garbage to get to the real content you were looking for. Currently, there is a great balance here at XLF, and it's one of the reasons I chose to join. Everyone here has the opportunity to learn, contribute, share, and have a great time. But if things become unbalanced, they eventually wobble to the point where the wheels want to fall off, and that isn't good for anyone. Take care, all; I'm glad I found this place...

We gotta stick together fellas, not even Harley likes us.
Hats off to you Mick, it's a tough, unpaid, labor of love trying to herd cats and kick the occasional butt, answer the same questions ad infinitum, and put up with under appreciated smart asses.
If I was in your shoes, I'd be in a rubber room, mumbling about oil brands.

I agree Mick, this site should be about and for Iron Heads only, if you search online anybody can find 2-3 dozen sites to talk about every bike imaginable, almost every search on Iron Head leads here, so let's keep it that way! I know I'd still be trying to figure out which bracket went where on my old Bastard if not for these pages, not too mention we'd still be sitting in limbo on my bro's bike if not for all the info and input I got from here just a couple of weeks ago, so Thanks again for this site and the Iron Head nuts that keep it Great!!

This forum is not just for us and for now. We must keep in mind the world of 10, 20, ..., whatever years from now. The top experts who are here now will most likely not be here then. We are preserving their knowledge and the history so that guys many years from now, future generations, will have access to it.
bravo.
