I don't think it's an issue of who or where or when, but more a matter of what we want the Forum to be from now into the future. It's a great resource and entertaining, and it's not free to host a site or keep it alive and well on the internet. If we all try to take care of it, it will be around a long time. Not preaching; just facts.

OK, when you say this is how "we" want the forum to continue on into the future, exactly "who" is included in that group?
And your claim as to how "it" is entertaining, I will not even touch "that" one.

I think the thread that started this could have easily been moved to an appropriate section and no harm no foul. Unless the author has a long history of putting threads here that are non related. I don't take offense so easy at what for all I know was a mistake.

"We" references anyone who supports this site, myself included.

"It" references the site in general; no touching required.

I'm not sure I follow your logic here? Mick is the forum moderator.....the first two are related to his responsibilities as such on this forum The other three are about ironhead carburetors and riding ironheads. What's the problem?

Speaking from a position of someone who was an Admin on another site....Admins and Mods call all the shots....they do the cat herding so to speak (actually it IS exactly like herding cats)....not an easy job...Mods work in conjunction with the Admin and other mods to keep things steered a certain way...you have to do this constantly or any site will eventually descend into caos and in time irrelivence as a result.

Its easier to keep Humpty Dumpty from falling off the wall than it is to put him back together again so to speak.

There is a LOT of work behind the scense that someone who has never been a Mod or Admin on a busy site never sees or knows about...these places most certainly don't run themselves. THats not to diminish the value of the posting members..far from it...each side makes valuable contributions that make or break a site.

Just my suggestion: You can read the past posts in the ironhead section, from October of 2004. You'll recognize some of the posters that frequented the section that are not ironhead owners, but still contributed. Mick and "Flatty" teasing each other often getting off subject, set the atmosphere of the ironhead forum family-like. The forum evolved from that humble beginning to where we are now. There really isn't a vintage restore site except for "Other Motorcycles Discussion Non Sportster and Non Buell discussion area". So K models will be out, Flathead 45's out, XR's have their own site already and so on.
However when someone comes across a problem with his Linkert, there is a forum, "Sportster Intake and Exhaust" where they could start their thread never to be answered or addressed. This happens all the time. Folkie does a great job of helping out there. The same goes for many other subjects. I do believe what fdny37 was pointing out was if we set the bar too high, screw it, nobody is going to jump. ultra...good asked the question, where does the line get drawn, who is going to enforce it. Well that would be you Mick. I never thought we were getting off subject too far. If there is a thread that doesn't interest me or whatever on this forum, I don't read it. I'm not really into complete and proper restorations but I'm casually interested. I am very interested in Strokers and other such modified motors and bikes, but others are not. Besides I guess there 3 forums, LSR, drag racing, and motorcycle racing, for such things. You have a tough job, Mick. Speaking only for myself, you are doing it well and with entheusiasm. I can only guess how many hours you put into organizing the Sticky's. That was a giant leap for this forum. We can police ourselves, which would be the proper thing. Or we can put it all on you. If you don't mind I'll throw in with you and remember what this part of the forum is all about. Michael T

Of all the motorcycle sites I visit this by far the friendliest, most helpful site of them all.

I think the credit for this belongs to Mick. He does an amazing job of setting the tone.

much as I love Night Train Superglides I don't think a build thread belongs here.

Much as I'm not an Ape hanger guy , fdny's big inch bike or my fuel bike is just as much an abomination to them as their flat black bobber might be to us.

The listing of CL or ebay ads is a two edged sword. I have bought a nice bike (orange 69XLCH) because of a post and almost had a heart attack when some one posted a bike I was chasing and hoping no had noticed (1961XLCH).

You can imagine my angst at finding an ad I'm hoping is flying under the radar posted NATIONALLY on an Ironhead specific site no less.

Mick you are doing a great job, keep it up.

Ignore what you don't like- enjoy the rest.

It's just the internet.

I am anxious to see how black the kettle calls the pot. I can tell you how this ends, but I won't. Seems to me that their is a choice to make. Freedom or Dictatorship.

Let's not forget Mick's intent for this post. Seems to me he's asking for input so he can run things the way "we" want it and not the way "he" wants it.
