Yeah, those are just the spares I carry in my tool roll.....

Can we mention DD around here?? He left us waiting here with our notebooks out mid semester!!
I’d settle for the night school course if he came back around...(c’mon Doc, I know your listening!)

You make a valid point Iron Mike, guilty as charged. I rarely venture outside the main IH section of the forum but should do so more.

I found gentle curves are ok, had no problem with the oil tank. Sharper curves though are beyond my ability with vinyl.

Trans parts all arrived now so trying to set gear spacing. Both sliding gears will move back & fore on their shafts - 25 thou on M/S, 30 thou on C/S with trans together on bench.
M/S sliding gear is within specs both sides either end of that movement so no problem.
C/S 3-1 spacing no issues, I can sort that last easy enough.
C/S 2-3 spacing has me scratching my head. Spacing is either 32Thou or 62Thou, depending which end of it's movent on the shaft the gear is. Should I measure the spacing with the gear in the middle of it's 30 Thou travel? Then it would be 47 Thou so all good. Tried several sizes of shift fork and this is as close as I can get it.
Stumped by this, the trans on my 76 had very little sliding gear movement in neutral on the bench.

Yoshi figured it out - the BT top hats I have allow a bit of movement so that is why the sliding gear has a bit of left to right movement. I've ordered a pack of 10 more and will use the 2 that measure the biggest diameter in the pack. The IH ones and BT ones I have all measure .370. If the new ones are all the same I'll just have to set the spacing with the sliding gears in the middle of their travel and leave it at that.
