Default 883 to 1250 conversion

I am thinking about converting my 883 to a 1250 with the hammer performance kit. I am going to keep my stock heads and do a reverse dome kit. I am wondering what else I will need to get for the conversion. I currently have a screaming eagle ignition module in the bike now, I am wondering if I need to upgrade that as well. I know I will have to rejet the carb but I am wondering if there is anything else that I will have to get that I am not thinking of. Also I know that hammer performance does a discount to xl members and I was trying to figure out how to apply that. any input would be appreciated.

I have no experience with the Hammer kits but in experience doing 1200 conversions you will get a lot more seat of the pants performance with head work or replacing them, I know it's more money but you get what you pay for.

I would go on hammer performance website and investigate there and send Aaron an email with any questions. Those guys are great!

Go to http://hammerperf.com/883conversions.shtml and read the article all the way through, particularly the background information and basic conversion. It will tell you anything you need to know.

Also, you can call Dan or Aaron and they will answer all the questions you have. You won't regret going with Hammer. It's a great conversion!

Hammer Performance is the way to go. Those guys are extremely knowledgeable, supportive, patient, and everything else you could ever ask for in a vendor. You honestly can't go wrong with them. Get in contact with Aaron, tell him you goal up and he'll steer you down the right path with the right parts, so your not waiting your money. Another piece of advice is do your research on everything, parts, specs, tools, what's comparable with what.

you also have the NRHS 1250 kit option available as well. Right now NRHS is giving XL Forum members both the top end gasket kit upgrade and the ring gapping at no charge. That's a $100 value!!

I can also discuss other options if you want even more power but with your year bike that is all you must get.

Feel free to call or e-mail me for more details.

Get some W cams from an XLS pre 2000 (big teeth gear), it will get you better oumph from your 883 heads and reverse dome pistons. Back up the timing plate and 45 idle and 185 main jets, you'll get near 75 hp with this set-up, almost double of the 1999 883.
