No Fork Oil GOOF!
I have a friend who rides a lowrider. He keeps his bike outside all year long under a tarp. He meets me one day a couple weeks ago for a ride and he has hydraulic fluid all over his front tire. I said hey man what's leaking? He tells me his fork seals are leaking. I said you need to fix them even offering him to bring it to my house and I will show and help him fix this. He's thick in the head and just shrugs it off as he just wants to ride.
Then just last week I see him with another friend we ride with and I ask him about the seals. He says he just got a new back tire and new chain then tells me the shop he had it done at(indie honda dealer) cleaned the seals and he should be ok. Then he added that they aren't leaking as much.
I said BECAUSE THERE IS NO FLUID LEFT IN THEM!!
He just doesnt't care. I don't wanna ride with him as he is a liability in my mind now and I am not gonna have kind words for him if my ride gets cut short because he has bike problems or god forbid gets hurt.
My question is: What can I tell him will happen if he does not address this?

Oil dripping on my front tire - the tire that guides me around corners - and keeps the bike from sliding off the road - would be enough to make me fix the issue.
Eventually, no oil in the forks will change the ride quality and handling as there will be no dampening. And the seals will deteriorate faster on totally dry sliders. Of course, with no oil, they won't be sealing anything anyway???!!!???
Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.
