Stairman - I promised you pictures of some of my own hurricane damage. Sorry, but I got tied up with broken fences, and impassable roads. I had the pictures of where it looks like a tornado went across my pond on the camera, but just did not take the time to upload them. I got them on my server now. To make up for taking so much time, I wrote you a poem to go with the pictures. There is a fence buried under most of the down trees somewhere. Many of the 18 inch diameter pines, 100 feet tall are just twisted off at ground level. Everything is fine here. Hurricanes are nothing new. I am just happy that no trees landed on any of my buildings and the roofs stayed on.
The Passing Of Idelia
Big hurricane is in the Gulf,
And all the clouds are purple,
The winds are really getting rough,
Dark as night, but it is only noon,
The lights are blinking off and on,
Power lines will be falling soon,
The power is going out, and the phone,
Can’t see the sun, nor the moon,
Too late to get more gasoline,
Too late to go to the grocery store,
They are all closed down,
Once the winds begin to roar,
Stay at home through floods or high seas,
Once the eye wall hits the land,
The roads are closed by falling trees,
Close the shutters and use the bags of sand,
When the power poles snap like matchsticks,
And the wires begin to fall,
Preparation not already made,
Will not be made at all,
You are all alone until they clear the roads,
No one is coming if you call,
It is nothing new to Florida natives,
Just something that happens in the fall,
Day and night the winds roar like a freight train,
Then almost suddenly it is strangely quiet,
Nothing more but constant rain,
Strangely calm with the passing of the hurricane.

Yeah, actually made out pretty good. No building damaged, just a lot fences. Easier to replace fences than houses or barns. Got most of the outer property line fences standing up again.
