all motors should have an oil filter as far as i'm concerned. the oil cooler? the needle bearings in the cam cover make me think this was someone's hot rod.

I agree!
What else can you tell me about hot rodding ?
If replacing the bushes with rollers was the only thing you could do then that's pretty desperate lol.
I haven,t measure the valves yet as that's a later job … bet they,re not standard either.
The clutch is wet too, but I notice that the parts manual mentions a wet kit, even if the service manual doesn,t.

Hi Lynnx
you will love yr sporty. I have had mine for a year or so, and it blows me away how fast it is every time I ride it. It came with a peanut tank which looks ok but gets you about 20 miles down the road, so found this nice one as a sub.

Have fun with the re-build. I didnt get deep into mine, but re-built the kicker and the clutch. Lets see the pics!

Hi CCman,
Pretty much the look I,m after except the tank.
I like the peanut lol.
I have/will have no battery and an oil filter one side with a cooler on the other.
The tank is not correct but the kidney tank would interfere with the "accoutrements"
I,ll post a pic of what I,m starting with when it lets me!

So, having lapped in .0006 os pinion rollers and changed the gear shifter bushes I,m moving onto shifter shaft seals - which are missing from the James kit I ordered.
Damn.
J and P tech rep dealt with it and even managed to hold the part until I order more … was I dealing with a person or AI?
Whatever, they coped!
Still can,t post pictures tho … anyone know why not?
