These are the folks who did my KHK cams back in ‘80. They don’t list Sportster grinds on the website but they still have the capability.

http://www.webcamshafts.com/

I scrounged up the 2” aluminum bar and set it on the lathe with Dr. Dick’s drawing today. Hoping to do it Thursday.

The lifters should run on the middle of the cam lobe, not near the edge. With second hand cams you can often see just exactly where the lifter is running.

Having a hard surface layer mans if the cams are dropped onto a hard surface you can "chip" the surface on the side of the cam. If the chip isn't too big it may not be a problem.

keep a careful eye out for shiny metal when you do your oil change.
Unfortunately this blemish is right smack in the roller path. On the SIFTON Titan lobes they are very square, on #4 the blemish is right at the corner in the roller path. I'm still researching for repair. Running it as is will not give me any comfort.

I shipped the new to me used SIFTON Titan cams off to Web Camshafts yesterday. They appear to be the company for restoration of antique cams. I'm hoping they can save mine.

as you proceed through the repair process, can you share what expenses you encounter? I have a few sets of cams with one lobe with some damage that I may as well repair if it is cost prohibitive.
thanks

I sure can. As of right now I have $373.00 in a set of SIFTON Titan cams advertised by Ebay seller as nice and ready to run. They are not. Web Camshafts will call me when they have looked them over to discuss best plan of action. I'll update here.

I recently discovered XLforum on Facebook and I can put pictures there.

Hi mike, curious, on your different cam sets, is it the same cam number between sets with damage or different ones?

No its not.
Couldnt be that simple Doodah, were you looking for a vulnerable culprit??
Perhaps a common failure on most #2's?? or 4's?? They range in 1 thru 4. Mostly collateral from roller failures for one reason or another.
I have 10-12 sets Ive come across over the years and just have not attemted any repairs just yet. They have always been on the"one of these days I'll have to send these to Black Widow or back to Mr. L's", shelf.

Right on, yep, just curious of one particular cam or another was prone to fail. I thought I had a vague recollection of dr dick saying something about a specific cam being problematic, but don’t remember now where I read that, or if it’s maybe even a false memory. I have two old sets of p cams in my dungeon that have a crack in the surface, but like you said, it was due to the mating tappet’s roller.
