Default math problem, piston rings

I need to order piston rings for my 900 with a 3 inch bore which is now .040 over. I figured I could find rings that were +.040 but Dennis Kirk sells them like 3.197, 3.207, 3.217, etc. I seem to have missed that math class. Which set is it and how do you compute it?

OH NO! Not a cast oil ring. LOL

Sorry I'm looking for 3 piece oil ring. I just need to order the correct size.

Those numbers are the oversize added to the standard bore size. So standard bore = 3-3/16 or 3.1875.

3.1875 + .020 = 3.2075
3.1875 + .040 = 3.2275

Looks like they don't include the 5 in the part number

900 standard bore is 3.0, 1000 is 3-3/16 correct?
900 standard ring would be 3.005

Yes, your right. I forgot you're working on a 900. Standard bore 3.000

A quick look over at Hastings revealed they only have STD rings for the 900. Seems odd they only have STD for the 900, while they have oversized for 1000 motors.

Typically they are good at responding to e-mails. When I had questions, I had responses same day or next day at the latest.

If you strike out elsewhere, I'd suggest an e-mail to --> info@hastingsmfg.com <-- . They might provide a recommendation (or not).
