You should be fine (for now) - at that load level it should not be straining the regulator...

(Glad to help out)
Good Luck

How many wires & what are the wire colors?

Is the connector currently connected & in use? Or just hanging loose?
Since you swapped engines, that wire may not be in the location it should be.

Those connectors have a mounting block with a key-hole for mounting them on little round hooks (knobs) protruding off the frame (usually).

Sorry for my late reaction...just came back from a ride; was curious how is running;just switched to points,to protect the ignition, until I ll fit the right regulaTOR.
It is 3 wire plug. Some red, white, and black or gray?don t remember well, and the motorbike it is not close to me right now......juzyHD sir,the neutral wire is coming out about the same area like on the 86 case,so I found it easily.

The connector with RED, WHITE & BLACK wires on the 2003 engine is from the Vehicle Speed Sensor that would connect with the Electronic Speedometer...

If you're still running the '86 wiring harness and the mechanical speedo, you won't have a place to connect this.
