Default XR750 goes bye bye

Looks like H-D is gradually being dethroned from it's last bastion of track superiority. With Indian introducing a 750 Scout racer and other manufacturers taking serious aim at Harley, They are finally being forced to confront the future. I think variations of Revolution motor technology are eventually going to be on all Harleys sooner rather than later.

It's not just yet, until the street proves it's self they will keep brad on the xr.. Yamaha is who they need to worry about coming into the scene again... As far as the xg motor, when vance and Hines got ahold of it to race spec it, they were very surprised that the xg motor was such a pos and Harley intended to race it lol.... It's practically a dressed up honda rebel motor.. Sohc, screw and lock nut, it's internal resemble a honda or virago motor alot.. Harley is dreaming real big lol

Indian poached the Brad, Mees, and Smith. Looks like 44 Brandon Robinson will be the Factory Harley rider next year and almost certainly on the XR not the XG. I think Harley has much better chance being competitive making a few updates to the XR motor than continuing down the XG path.

And a plain-bearing crank? With a knife-fork bottom end?

I think the quad cam shouldbe the only Motor offered by halrey in various bores/strokes. 1 motor design in everything.. But why use something that works and has proven to work right? Lol.... All they had to do was redesign platform to allow it.
I hate how Harley said they had reached the Max potential of the xr750. But really haven't changed anything with it in 40 years..
So many things that could be done to it!

Here's the deal as I see it. Indian's engine is NOT Scout based, it is a ground up race engine. Harley's race engine IS Street based and therefore COULD legally race at 900CC, IF Harley produces a 900cc Street for homologation. Perhaps that is the long term path.

H-D brought the XR back in, as well as using the XG:
http://www.americanflattrack.com/results/default

Besides the 750 twins, there's also a 450 singles class.

I'd love to see H-D put out a 4 cam single 450, and make it available in street form.

Looks like privateers running the XR's to me. Factory team running the XG's.
