Short in the turn signals, opened it up, brass fell out?
So I have a short somewhere. I think the turn signal is a great place to start. Because when I hit my left turn signal sometimes the right one comes on.
The right turn signal does have a broken piece of plastic, but the wires look fine. It's hard to tell how the switches are.
Also why is there like a rubber button on the side of it? It's tucked away when it's put together, basically butting up against the break reservoir.
Does anyone have any diagrams or part numbers? I've been out in the sun all day and I'm a little brain dead and need some assistance.
Thank you.
And yeah, that brass piece I have no idea where it fell out of. It's like a flat piece.
EDIT: Took the whole thing apart and put it back together. Would definitely say it's just the turn signal switch itself. The thing is broken and keeps getting stuck in the On position. Anyone know where to get a new one?
Also the brass piece, no idea where it went. Threw it back in there and treated it like a space filler.

The rubber covered switch is for the Brake Lever. (see link - item#17)
Do you have a manual?
See Link - Item#18 - 71591-92 - SWITCH ASSEMBLY, RIGHT DIRECTIONAL
(This is the switch without wires - the manual discusses soldering it in place)
eBay usually has switch controls available.
Here's the 1995 parts page at Ronnie's:
https://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...H%20ASSEMBLIES
If the switch is broken, the brass piece may have fallen out of the switch itself.

Wow, thank you so much! Yes I have a parts manual, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place? I look at 'turn signal' but it's only the light and housing (and the screws). Maybe I should have tried looking at something else.
Anyways, that's really helpful!

Are you taking apart the hand controls, and pieces are falling out?

There is a small brass v-shaped piece that tensions behind something in the hand control housing.

The v shaped piece of metal is a spring for the brake light switch.
