Default Grenade plate

I went to put on my Barnett extra plate kit today and ended up peeling a piece off of the basket. I ordered a used basket on eBay. Not thrilled. But am glad I got the grenade plate out because I picked brass rivets out during disassembly.

Default distance

What distance had your Sportster traveled before you upgraded the clutch?

It’s new to me this year but it has 28k on the odometer. I’m thinking it’s the original clutch.

That snap ring is held in place by the spring locking ring - It is critical to compress the diaphragm spring far enough to press the locking ring down out of the way BEFORE trying to remove that snap ring...

Be sure to read over the Sportsterpedia section on the Clutch:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...vo:priclutch01

Good Luck with the used basket...

So the used basket and parts are supposed to be in Wednesday.
I do have and was using the spring compression tool during disassembly.
The used basket claims to come with new plates, I’ll just toss those out and install the Barnett and Barnett spring and clutch cable.
Hopefully between the two baskets and a mess of plates I can slap it all together this weekend and be mobile again.
