I agree. I use bolts with all of mine.
One of the most common problems I run into are broken studs on cases. Not because people over-torque them but because they are a resting point for the cases when they are out of the bike sitting on the ground/bench.
If not broken they are very often bent.
It's also easier to install the pump and then insert individual bolts instead of having to try to "nudge" the pump up into place while sliding it over 5 studs at least one of which is always a little bent.
And the oem studs are made of cardboard metal.

I would have to look it up again but from memory it's only something like 75 inch lbs.

1/4" steel N into aluminum = 6 ft/lbs ? Sound right anyone ?

HD actually did us a big diservice in designing the pump mounting they ended up using.
Quite apart from the fact that getting access to the ump in the first place is a total nightmare.
I have removed/installed pumps with the engine in the frame butt it's only about 1% less tedious than removing the engine from the frame.

I recently bought a bike VERY cheaply because the PO had rebuilt the engine and then installed it without putting the scavenge key in the pump.
Never stop an oil pump rebuild halfway through.

The pump really should be located with a dowl(s). And 4 larger bolts to hold it in place. I'm guessing their build tolerances at the time just weren't tight enough to do the job properly.

Sochiro Honda probably laughed for hours when he saw that one.

On a side note I use a 1/4 torque wrench here as i don't think the 3/8ths ones are as accurate at very low settings.Just me, use your 3/8ths wrench if you want to.
Oh, and the 1/4 is calibrated in inches.
