I was under the impression the race distorts when it's pressed in to the case, which is why the bearings might not fit standard bearing/mainshaft measurement. Otherwise, wouldn't the race and bearings be sold as a prefit set?
At the end of the day, the brake hone method works. I've been riding my bike, trouble free, since I did what I did with the hone. Maybe I got lucky. Or maybe it works. But I know my m/s spins like it's supported in warm butter.
I also know I'm not the only person to achieve satisfactory results with the brake hone.
I'm known to over think things....but this is getting ridiculous

The above was dr Dick's instruction to me for rebuilding my trans the only exception being I was to send my race to him for sizing in his spare case half.
