Got this one from a guy over at Chop Cult, sadly I can't remember who he is, however; see some pop up on flebay occasionally I paid $60, super strong, super easy to mount, covers the complete bottom of the bike, I drilled the holes, personally I think they look cool and they do keep some of the road grime off the bottoms side, and they could stop a rock from flying up and popping a hole in your cases.

I have actually been looking at buying one because where I used to work I _occasionally_ had to do some curb hopping to get where I need to be without driving several blocks out of my way.
All of them look really nice.

Interested!
Anyone tried this one?
http://www.tcbroschoppers.com/skid-p...sportster.html
Regular Price: $100, now they offer for $80.
I have some concerns:
1) Is skid plate compatible with engine guard 49287-11?
2) Does it make issue for servicing operations? I mean regular draining and changing engine and transmission oils.
3) Should be removed before lifting bike on jack?
I ride on roads, but when 2-up, then all speed humps are ours.

I can’t see what real use a skid plate, or bash plate would be on any Sportster. My flat track bike doesn’t have one, nor do most of the other hooligan bikes I see. My XL road bike has a short one, just to keep the front of the frame clean and it works well enough for that.
Hands up anyone who has ever had their crankcase broken by a rock thrown up by the front wheel? Don’t all shout at once....
One thing I would say, is that no one racing Yamaha TT or XT500 on flat track keeps the “coal shovel” bash plate. It might be good for off road use, but for track racing it contributes to overheating.

Do they have to be removed to do an oil change or primary chain adjustment?

I often scrape sidestand mount lug on speed bumps. Trying to avoid damaging of frame lower tubes, that can start corrosion of frame. Superlow is obviously very low
