Default Random Memory from Earlier This Year

Was cleaning up some files on the puter and was reminded of the fun Mary and I had in the Badlands of SD earlier this year.

Got some great “Badlands” memories from our C.O.B.B. run in 2017, the worst of it though was being run out of the park by a kick ass nasty storm. Blew in hard and fast as we were lunching, so we packed up, Mark and Mary running ahead in the truck and trailer. Me, resigned to chasing them. Did I say I hate lightening, and it was dancing all around us. Nothing to do but gut it out.

Yeah, not called the Badlands for no reason. Weather there can be fast and treacherous.

Earlier this year we were riding around Yellowstone. This day we had ridden Beartooth Pass, TWICE, and were headed back to camp.

Kurt is ahead on his Tri Glide-

Getting close to "home", the sky was a nice bookend to 12 hours of amazing riding.

Pulling into our "driveway" for the week. Great day of riding!

Photography is one of the greatest inventions of all time. Not only does it preserve memories in our own minds, but it helps us share them with others, both currently and into the future. It even out lives us to share our stories with later generations...

I'm glad that you've posted pictures for us to enjoy YOUR experiences, even if only on a second-hand basis.

But, one good computer crash can wipe out an entire family history in seconds. Todays pictures will never be found inside walls while tearing a house down, or in an attic gathering dust. Todays pictures are dust.

That's what a good back-up is for ---- and what gets onto the internet seems to outlive our intentions sometimes...

Finding old DVDs or Thumbdrives might be the future archeology or treasure hunts... Museums already exist for 'early' computer equipment...

Of course, great stories can create pictures that no one ever snapped... And oral traditions that create 'mental pictures' (while also subject to weathering, wilting & wandering with age) have been around since the beginning of time.

As I get older, I appreciate more and more the supplement to my memory of being able to review pictures of times long gone...

No doubt, but changing my Email address caused my One drive to not back up for a long time. Then when the big crash came (failed noisy drive), I lost a lot of very important information regarding work. Lately I see I lost pictures as well.

But after the apocalypse there will be no data. Monkeys will be living inside overgrown museums and dinosaurs will be making a come back. The last sportster will get dug up by a lickalotapus that naturally will not be able to ride it without tongue controls so it will probably be assumed to be a machine for shredding asphalt and oil production will be illegal because it represents disturbing the dead.

All of that is why I don't take many pictures.
