Well; I got Joe from Houston to ride up to it and I've been talking it up to Joe (Gravydog). He's thinking about it.

Good job John. I have a buddy from St. James, Mo. that will probably make a few runs with us.

On Thursday morning, June 10th, the Sun will come up over the Tri-State area looking like a crescent Moon. It will be near the peak of a partial eclipse of the Sun in which 73% of the Sun's disk will be obscured by the passing New Moon.
Sunrise coinciding with the peak of a solar eclipse of large magnitude is a rather rare occurrence; for NYC it has happened only twice in the last 150 years: in Sept. 1875 and October 1959.
Make sure your alarm clock is properly set so you won't miss it . . . Sunrise that morning is as early as it can get (5:24 a.m.).
Of course, precautions must be taken in observing the partially eclipsed but still blindingly bright Sun. For many years, Sky & Telescope has provided helpful advice on the safest methods to watch a partial solar eclipse. You can review that information here:

Something to look forward to as we head out for Cuba.

From what I saw, not Missouri. North of Detroit looks promising, but not timely.

Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana. In other words, right here in Cheviot. A ways North and East of here (like in northern Ontario or Greenland), it'll be total, but here it will still be visible as a partial if there's no cloud cover.

My alarm will probably be going off about then so I can get up and get ready to head down to the M&G. As it appears I'm out of the viewing area you'll have to say an extra OOOH and AAAH for me.
