I have been doing a bit of maintenance on KT this past week. I tightened my rear turn signal units (as they had vibrated loose). I replaced my air filter with a new one. I guess I'll try to clean the old one, although it is so dirty I'm not sure it will come clean.

I also had my front tire replaced. I've been using Shinko 230 Tour Masters on both the front and rear.

Now, I finally got out for another ride in March. This time I planned a Covered Bridge Tour in Perry County. The day was pleasant with temps in the mid to upper 60's. Initially, the sky was clear but it became more overcast as the day wore on.

I planned to visit 8 covered bridges in a 12-mile stretch near Rt274. It went very well with only one missed turn.

This is the Adair Covered Bridge.

This is the Enslow Covered Bridge.

Both of these bridges are of the Burr-truss design since that design allows spans over 100 feet.

Check out My Motorcycle Chronicles for more details about my tour of these beautiful covered bridges.

Nice - I did a 10+ covered bridge ride in Chester/Bucks/Lancaster county ride when I lived back there. Didn't you take us to the longest covered bridge in PA?

Wagoner's Bridge - Privately Owned

This is the only bridge I visited that was not open to public use. When the state moves a highway to a new location, as was done here, the easement across the property of the land owners is usually abandoned - or vacated. The easement gave the state the right-of-way to cross over privately-owned land in order to create the roadway, but since that usage is no longer being exercised, the state vacates the easement.

If the roadway follows the property lines of adjoining land, the usual ownership is to the center of the roadway for each party. Where the easement crossed over wholly-owned land of one person, when the easement is vacated, the control of the land use (and in this case, the bridge) reverts back to the owner.

It is also a cost cutting action since the state is no longer responsible to maintain the roadway or the structures.

It was a nice day today. I chose to enjoy a ride thru apple country.

These old and sturdy examples of knarled apple trees are a little like us older folks who carry character marks from years of dealing with the storms of life. We might not produce like we used to, but we're still enjoying the bright sunshine!

Bugaloo Blues

Riding on Easter.

WOW! The bugs were out like crazy - And many of them didn't survive our meeting! The bottom half of the picture shows what it was like looking thru my face shield.

I was out riding again in April - This time with my brother. We rode a number of back roads and very much enjoyed a nice Spring afternoon.

This is one of the many humpback stone bridges we crossed on our ride.

More ride details in My Motorcycle Chronicles.

I was out on another 120-mile ride - It was a nice day and the wind was calling me...

I rode west of Shippensburg and was looking for an overlook location I found on Google... I found it... What an view!!

I rode the valley between the mountains and eventually went to visit the two bridges I missed in Perry County on my previous bridge tour ride.

Ken, thanks for sharing, and as I just got back from visiting your latest chronicle I hope you didn’t soil yourself at the end of that video! That was scary!

Paul - I had forgotten to bring my RED CAPE... and didn't exclaim Olé after his charge... But no new underwear was needed...

When I saw him put his head down (at the last minute) I knew what was coming and was prepared to move even further out of his way with a twist of the throttle... But he did surprise me with his agility to move so quickly...

Glad to have you along on the adventure...
