Default 2017 XLC alarm question

Got a 2017 XLC. The alarm chirps when I switch bike on and off but if I disturb the bike without the fob, siren doesn't sound but all the lights flash. I thought the alarm should go off, Can anyone clarify.

Welcome to the XLForum.

From the 2013 Elec Diag Manual, page 5-37:
Quote:
WARNINGS: A warning consists of three alternate flashes of the turn signals and chirp from the optional smart siren. Warnings are issued from an armed TSSM or HFSM in the following order:

1. First Warning: A warning is issued whenever a person
without a fob present or with the system armed attempts
to move the vehicle or turns the ignition switch to IGN.

2. Second Warning: If the motion continues or the ignition
switch is not turned back to OFF, a second warning is
issued within four seconds of the first.

3. Alarm: If the motion continues or the ignition switch is not
turned to OFF past the second warning, the smart security
system will go into full alarm.

Thanks, therefore is the chirp siren a different component to the smart siren and does it chirp without the optional smart siren

I don't know what you have installed - Do you?

My question would be - Did you disturb the bike on a constant and long enough basis to move from the blinking & chirping stage of warning to the actual Full Alarm stage?

I suspect the Smart Siren is doing the chirping... Do you know where it is? Have you checked on the internal battery? Have you checked the connections?

Have you tried disconnecting the power (main fuse, I would guess) to see if the alarm goes off?

Do you have the Operating Manual? Did you read how to put the security module into different modes?

Here's a short section in the Sportsterpedia on the Security Siren:

disturbed bike for a good 5 minutes (timed)
Have successfully checked (entered) chirpless mode and back.
Instructions are a bit ambiguous, eg talks about alarm activation but doesn't talk specifically siren or lights, alarm goes off ie lights flash continuously but no siren. Bike currently with mechanic who is talking possible wiring issue but I can't accept that, eg chirps, flashes, arms, disarms, etc so if wiring then some of those functions wouldn't work. Will check more of your suggestions when I get it back tomorrow. Thanks
